CT (Computed Tomography)
CT (Computed Tomography)
CT (Computed Tomography) scans use X-rays and advanced computer processing to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body. These scans are highly versatile and can focus on specific areas for diagnostic clarity.
How It Works:
A CT scan, or Computed Tomography scan, is a powerful and non-invasive diagnostic imaging tool that uses X-rays and advanced computer technology to produce highly detailed cross-sectional images of the body.
Unlike traditional X-rays, CT scans provide a 3D view of internal structures, allowing for precise examination of bones, organs, blood vessels, and soft tissues. This makes them invaluable for diagnosing a wide range of conditions, from fractures and infections to cancers and vascular diseases.
Types of CT scans
- Whole-Body CT
- Brain CT
- Spine CT
- Chest CT
- Abdominal CT
- Pelvis CT
- Sinus CT
- Cardiac CT
- CT Angiography (CTA)
- Bone CT
- Virtual Colonoscopy (CT Colonography)
- Virtual Colonoscopy (CT Colonography)
Procedure Preparation:
Pre Procedure
- No special preparation is typically required for most X-rays.
- Remove jewelry, metal objects, or clothing that could interfere with the image.
During the Scan:
- The patient is positioned between the X-ray machine and a detector.
- The radiologist or technician ensures the correct positioning for accurate imaging.
- The process is quick, often taking less than 5–10 minutes.
After the Scan:
- No recovery time is needed; patients can resume normal activities immediately.
